remote central locking

question with regards to the mrs's car (Honda civic: P-reg). The central locking works, but unfortunately the alarm doesnt, i replaced the batteries, with no success.

any other quick checks i can do, rather than take it to the 'mechanic'?

check all the fuses to see if the fuse for the alarm has gone?

mine has a box in the engine bay that you have to put the key into and switch to 'on' to activate the alarm.

maybe you have something similar?
