Remote connecting to laptop help

Hi all,

I am going away for a couple of weeks and want some software to be able to remotely control my laptop whilst away over the internet, can anyone recommend some free software to do this (Windows 8).

Also is there a software that can wake up my Laptop when i connect to it?

The laptop is connected to my router wireless as well.

if your laptop is running pro, enterprise or ultimate you can use remote desktop ( built in)
then you have a choice of team viewer, log me in, VNC and splashtop to name a few
