Remote Connection Issue

Hi,

I have a dyndns account setup to access various servers and apps behind my router / firewall.

These are all set up using port forwarding on the router a Draytek Vigor 2020n and work just fine from anywhere I have yet tried to access them from.

My issue is connecting to the router itself from the internet. I have setup the router so it can be accessed remotely via the management page on the device and changed the HTTP and HTTPS ports to something non standard.

Here is what I can connect to and not...

From work PC: -

Anything behind the router - OK - http://whatever.mydomain.com:xxxx
The router itself HTTPS - NOT OK - https://router.mydomain.com:xxxx
The router itself HTTP - NOT OK - http://router.mydomain.com:xxx
The router itself TELNET - OK - router.mydomain.com PORT xx

From iPhone on work wireless: -

Anything behind the router - OK - http://whatever.mydomain.com:xxxx
The router itself HTTPS - OK - https://router.mydomain.com:xxxx
The router itself HTTP - NOT OK - http://router.mydomain.com:xxx

I take it that because I can access anything behind the router on whatever port it is on means that there is no issues with a work proxy blocking anything. Accessing via telnet proves this I think.

Any ideas as to why I can not access it from a browser via HTTP or HTTPS, the error in Chrome is: -

Error 111 (net::ERR_TUNNEL_CONNECTION_FAILED): Unknown error.

regards,

Simpic

Try it with the standard ports first time, see if it connects. Also, try via its IP too. Can narrow it down from there :D
