Remote desktop is the best bet both in terms of ease of use and flexibility. You need to be running XP Pro though. To enable it, go Start>Control Panel>System>Remote and check "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer". Then you need to make sure the necessary port is forwarded (3389 is the default). If you are unsure how to do this the first place to check is www.portforward.com - if still stuck, ask here.

Then to use it, it's simply a case of clicking Start>All Programs>Accessories>Communications>Remote Desktop on the PC you wish to access from. Then give it your IP, username and password and you're all set. You might want to get a domain of some sort to save remembering your IP address www.dyndns.org is a good place to start if you don't want to pay for a "proper" one.

Hope this helps, null :)

i use logmein since at work we're not able to install programs and dont have access to windows remote desktop. its entirely browser based and its features are really quite fantastic considering its free
