Hey Guys

I recently installed windows 10 x64 on my NUC6, i use it mainly as a HTPC so im hoping to use a remote control with it. My old microsoft MCE remote only works with a few buttons like play and pause but its not enough, i tried the software Advanced MCE Remote mapper but it made no difference. The NUC has its own infrared receiver so is there any way to get the MCE remote working? If not can you recomend a basic remote control i can buy. Its mainly to launch and control Emby and adjust the volume etc.

i use a logitech harmony hub with the my NUC (TV, AV AMP, Fire Stick Humaz box ect too), but its set up as MCE anyway i think.

Has this worked before?

Hi thanks for your reply. I have never used a harmony remote control but i was trying to use the existing infrared receiver inside the NUC. The old MCE remote worked many years ago use the MCE remote usb receiver. I dont wish to use this old receiver. I might need to buy a new remote, do the harmony models work with the inbuilt infrared reciever?

I remember reading that not all mce remotes are created equal. It may have been that the one you had wasnt quite standard, so will work with its own receiver, maybe with its own software, but not the in built nuc receiver.

I have the nuc 2820 and it works with the harmony setup with the mce. Using the in built receiver.

Maybe a differenct mce remote would 'just work' too.

Thanks for the reply. You could be right about mine being not quite standard. Ill try and get a hold of a used harmony remote and fingers crossed it wirks with the built in receiver. ;)

I was looking at the Harmony 350 and 650 on ebay but after a bit of research it seems the software does not work well on windows 10 or the devices are not compatable. ;)
