Remote controling another pc

Hmm, might look into this - there's a paid for version. I can't remember the name but the ad was around the office worker getting birds to deliver his computer.

RDP with Port Forwards
VNC with port Forwards
VNC over VPN or SSH Tunnel
RDP over VPN or SSH Tunnel
Logmein
etc etc

Theres 10s and 10s of options, which one will depend on your requirements.

I use a mix of RDP and VNC depending on line bandwidth and what I want to do. RDP will never let me load a 3d app whereas VNC will.

The 'VNC Like' apps and Web services that display a console window are better if you have Multiple monitors at home, RDP will not let you disable anythign and you lose windows/dialogs on anything but the primary monitor - Tis annoying :P

vnc can be troublesome depending on the method of internet access.
It should work, but if a wireless dongle, or a mobile dongle is used for access then it can be an utter disaster.

The simpliest method I know of out there, that always works is

www.gotomypc.com

Register, Install, and run teh program on the PC to be controlled, then log in from absolutely anywhere without having to install anything and have full access. They have a trial, try it, see if you like it.

logmein works in a similar method I believe.

use had a quick play with log me in - untill my g/f realised what i was doing :D

seems pretty easy to use :)

lol spying on her ;)

yea i use to use logmein, its simple to setup and free.
over the lan tho i stick with windows RDP

and teamviewer for when you family/friends needs help on the spot.
