Remote Desktop and windows home server

I'm hoping someone might have encountered the same problem as me. I'd like to use the Remote Desktop app on my iPhone to connect to my server, at home, which runs WHS 2011. The operating system comes with a dynamic DNS type service, which *should*, I'm led to believe, allow me to use Remote Desktop via the home server address I have, which is of the form:

myserver.homeserver.com

This doesn't seem to work for me, unfortunately. I know I can get at the Remote Desktop if I go through the web interface (logging via the above address) but this isn't useful at the moment as it requires activeX controls, and I only have my iPhone.

Many, many thanks if anyone can help with this.

For a direct RDP connection you'd expect to need to open and forward the port you're using in the router configuration.

Having RDP ports open to the Internet isn't the best idea. You'd be better off doing it via a VPN connection or using something like Teamviewer instead.

Thanks for this. I forgot to mention that I've forwarded the necessary ports. These have been checked and are working, at least they were before I left the country last week!
