Remote Desktop Connection?

first thing, you need to enable users to log onto the PC you want to remote control

right click on my computer, and head to remote and tick the box marked "allow users to connect remotely to this computer" then add the users on the system you want to add.

then on the other PC, you need to make sure remote desktop is installed (can be found under start>programs>accessories>communication) if it is installed

then just enter the IP of the PC you enabled RDC on, then log in as one of the users you added. Simple :)

you can also click on options and choose what display size/colour your viewer shows the desktop at, and whether to transmit the local desktop picture etc..

Home doesn't allow remote connections to it. You can, however, create connections from a Home computer.

other way round

XP pro has the "remote desktop" program that enables you take control of other PCs

this is not included in XP home

but the "enable others to take control of my PC" part of XP is enabled in XP home

I have Remote Desktop on my Home Edition Windows. And no option to receive incoming connections...

there is an installer for the remote desktop client, so perhaps you installed it manually, because as per the link, XP home doesnt come with remote desktop ( i think, never used it, only going on googling)

Windows 2000 never shipped with it, but we can install it on our 2k PCs at work, so maybe you've done the same ?

as for the server version of remote desktop I'm getting mixed up with "remote assistance" which you still have on XP home which enables other people to take control of your PC, but the PC to be taken over has to request it first.

Thanks for that, Sounds easy :)
Is this also possible on XP Home sp2?

ASFAIK you can only connect to XP pro, Windows 2003 server and 2000 server.

You can however connect from any version of Windows, if you don't have the right program it's a free download from Microsoft.

Have a look for Tight VNC or Ultr@ VNC. They're free programs that'll do what you need and can be installed on any version of windows (well manybe not 3.11).
