Hi all,

bit of a funny request here so apologies for dumping this in the general forum, but can't find anywhere more suitable.

Cut to the chase - I have a gaming rig in one room, and an AV system in another room (projector, surround sound, connected to a mac). They are connected by gigabit LAN. Is it possible to run a game or app on the gaming rig, but use the other computer for input/output (ie keyboard, mouse, speakers, screen)?

As it's across LAN I presume the lag will be close to unnnoticeable or at least, I'll cross that bridge later.

Is there any software that allows this? Is regular windows remote desktop good enough?

Thanks in advance!

That's what I'm asking, can't the screen be sent across the network (in the same way remote desktop is) and display through the other PC?

RDP doesn't support 3D acceleration (afaik) so that won't work.
I would say it wouldn't be possible over the network. But you could get some long-ass cables and do it that way!

R088ieS86: Unfortunately the rooms are about 25m apart so that's not going to work.

spoffle: uh, thanks, do you actually recommend any of the many pieces of software mentioned in there?

I don't think it's a goer to be honest. If it did work there would be a significant performance decrease.

Better to just shift the PC.

Oh well, I guess moving the box around isn't TOO crazy a prospect. Thanks for saving me some pain anyway guys :)
