Hi, iv been using UltraVNC for a while now to controls the PC's within the LAN, but its begun to bug me that its nothing like the speed as controlling a PC locally. Is there any other remote desktop software that has fast as-if-you-were-controlling-the-pc-locally) speeds in terms of mouse movements etc....theres always a noticable lag grr. Thanks!

Use remote desktop which is built into windows, I find this is a lot faster on my network than using a VNC connection. Right click on my computer then click the remote tab or if in vista then remote settings and enable remote desktop for the machine you want to connect too.

Then fire up Remote Desktop Connection from accessories and either use the computer name or IP to connect. You then login to the system using the user account which you have created on the system you want to login to.

Yeah, but even RDC is slightly ever so laggy, im looking for the ultimate remote software that has speeds as if you were moving the mouse locally on a pc speed accross the LAN. That would be sweet. I dont see why this cannot be achievable as the speed is connected @ 100mbps ... which is more than adequate.

RDC has no lag here over WiFi

It's not a screen scraper, like the others. It's terminal services, so it should be better than the others.

I use the Windows remote desktop over remote clients with zero lag, from a bog-standard DSL line (onto both Vista and XP machines). Tried tweaking the connection settings? (disable wallpaper advanced window animations etc etc)

the best speed remote desktop is connect from rdp (rdesktop) on any linux distro. if you dont believe me, try mint linux live CD :)
