Hello,

I have Vista ultimate on my pc and I'd like to be able to connect to it with my mums lappy with xp, it's fine with the connection itself as when I type the name of my pc ( Snowdogs-pc ) i get to a vista style login screen, but when I click my name I get asked for a password, while I don't use one...
Typing no password and pressing enter makes it say incorrect password.
Works fien when I do use a password.

The same thing happens with my dads pc ( altho he's on xp pro) when I try to connect to him. Same thing that it works when he does set a password.

Thing is, neither me not him can be arsed to have a password, yet we want to be connactable through remote desktop.

Is there any setting to allow windows remote control without having a password on your user account ?

It's an important security feature, if you find a way of doing otherwise you deserve all you get :p
What's your IP address? :p

In all seriousness, use something like VNC and keep the session open all the time if you must. ><

192.168.1.10 :p, and that's all you'll get...

What, another security feature I don't need, in all honesty, my and my dad's pc are a bit ''hard'' to steal physically, we don't need passwords.

As for others trying a remote connection: I have 2 firewalls, both a NAT hw firewall ( with the remote control port not opened in any way), and the vista software firewall, I highly doubt anyone will break through that, and if they will, they can't steal any ''precious'' data any way (as I have none) and if I notice anything suspicious, I reboot and select XP instead ( which is on a diff hdd anyway if they try formatting vista, lol, the master boot record and the boot loader are on a diff hdd than vista too) and there I do have a passy so at least xp is controllable with remote desktop ( although tweakxp logs me in automatically so I don't have to type in the bloody passy at least on bootup.). But xp would recover any damage done in a possible but highlt unlikely attack.

So, how can I disable this annoying and utterly and uninportant useless security feature ?

how about setting passwords on both, and then setting them to automatically logon? (you'll still have to enter a password for RDC)

That would work for me, I have that in xp, how do I enable auto login on vista ?
My dad is another person though, he never shuts his pc down and always uses standby, he hates any place where he has to use passwords, passwords after standby is a big no no for him and a major annoyance.
