Hi there,

I want to be able to control another machine on my network with it being as fast as possible to control (screen updates etc)

What is the best software (free) and settings to use?

At the moment I am using TightVNC, but it seems a little slow? (screen refreshes)

Thanks.

If its a local network and VNC is laggy then you have network problems somewhere.

You could use RDP in windows but that will lock the PC you are controlling if anyone else wanted to use it.

Its not laggy as such, its just when dragging screens its laggy.

I only have XP Home on both machines, do I have RDP available to me?

Yep, it will be in programs > accessories > somewhere from there..

or type mstsc.exe at a run prompt.

And turn on remote desktop, right click my computer > advanced

I think it work in Home ed.
