Howzit Guys.

I'm busy setting up a FTP server at work. I have the server up and running with Windows XP Professional and Filezilla server edition. All is working just fine. However I now want to be able to login into the server (while on the same LAN network as the server) and control it. Not just FTP. For example changing and adding programs ect to it.

The server has no screen or keyboard or mouse. Only thing that is connected to it is a LAN cable and power.

I know XP has a remote desktop feature, however it doesn't seem to allow me to connect without some sort of acceptance from the server, this is were it would need a mouse, keyboard ect.

Anyone got any ideas??

Much appreciated!

Thank you, Swinnie, once again. :D.

If I was connecting to the server via a Windows Vista machine, would I be able to still connect that way? Also, does the server have to be on the same network name as the rest of the computers in order to connect to it?

When trying to find the server using the run command, 'mstsc' I click on browse for computers on my networks name and it waits a few seconds then says: The DZNET domain\workgroup does not contain any Terminal Servers. :(

Any ideas, Swinnie?

Could you also look at installing a vnc client/server software on the server?

Used to do this in my old house, had a server in the landing with VNC installed and then I used to connect to it using a client, was really easy! But remote desktop should work just as well, never used it myself however.

Thanks Vader, however I got Remote Desktop working.

I tried the name, it didn't work so the machine's local IP address worked just fine. :D

I want to learn more about networking as this is so much fun! :D:cool:
