I'm trying to set up an FTP server because my printer scans and sends to an FTP server.

Everything seems to be working as far as the FTP daemon is concerned but the printer comes up with the message Remote Directory Will Not Lock.

I've changed the users directory to a scan repository and chmodded it to 777... any ideas?

It seems to be that the users can log in but just can't write

It's obviously a security issue but I can't work out why. I've set VSFTPD so that local users can log on and have enabled writing in vsftpd.conf, I've set the user that I was trying it out on's home directory to be where I want my FTP file repository and I've chowned the folder to the user.

Any ideas of what I should do next?
