Remote Fob - given up remoting

My remote fob for the central locking suddenly gave up the ghost. 1 day it was working, next it didnt. I did the obvious first and changed the button battery, a CR 1620. Didnt work. There doesnt seem to be much that can go wrong with a remote fob, but there's a mini circuit board in the fob, so is it likely that it could be a dry joint or similar ?
 
What kind of car is it?
Renault keyfobs have a bad habit of the microswitch coming away from the board, I soldered my sisters back on and never had any problems since.
In some Vauxhall keyfobs the battery holder comes away from the board, again at the soldered joint.
 
Maybe the battery contact has rubbed off the connections.... if the above doesn't work, try scribbing on the gold contact areas for the battery with a 2B pencil, put battery back in, and try again.
 
It's more likely that it's lost it's sync with the car, particularly if it's french, particularly one of the infrared ones in Lagunas/Meganes/Clios etc. Need to know what car it is though ;) It's an easy fix to re-pair them in my old Megane, and I believe it's simple wiht my Accord and it's RF keyfobs too but I don't know how

Yeah, didnt think about that, it usually just requires a certain key/button combo to sort it out.
Some do have to be done at the dealers though.

Renault would probably charge about £60 for the simple "hold down the dash lock button then press the working key fob then the one you want to sync then the one you want to sync again" or whatver, that can be done in about 2 minutes ;) But yes, some, infact probably all modern cars are a bit more complicated :(

Ok, i'll try the contacts thing first, but if theres a quicker / easier route, hit me !
