Remote for D5100?

For some reason even though my cheap 5 year old bridge camera will autofocus right before taking a photograph in timer mode, the much more expensive D5100 won't. You have to pre-focus it before starting the timer countdown which then results in a blurry photograph when the subject moves away from the lens. Thus it's timer mode is effectively useless for most things.

What cheap remote can I buy that will allow me to press the shutter button half way to autofocus, so I can take photographs with me in them?

Manual focus on a spot and then it shouldn't change at all even if you do move... You just need to make sure you're stood on the spot
