Hi all,

My brother has toyota verso mpv, the buttons on the remote/key fob has torn and come off/lifted off slightly, the buttons still work (see pics). Is it possible to get the buttons repaired/replaced or would he need to get a replacement key fob?
If his needs to get another key fob, would it be via a Toyota dealer and what is the approx price or can you get off auction sites or alike? Not sure if it makes a difference it one of the cars where you don't need to put the key into to start the car but insert the fob which has also has small key inside it

Thanks in advance

Repairing those would likely be a very niche market, so it's more a case of whether you know anyone. Dealership fobs are typically expensive, but even if you buy one online you still need to get it programmed?

How old is the car? Can he make do without the remote central locking if it's an older car.

you may be able to buy a aftermarket case and put the original circuit board in it check the bay , even a secondhand good handset and change the case

and 5 minutes on the bay and heres a 2 pack eBay item number:373065950673

Second this. As long as the actual button on the board doesn't have cracked solder and/or ripped pads, then the new aftermarket case will work perfectly. Bit of a fiddle, but should work fine.

If in the event the button isn't actually working after swapping, likely a cracked solder joint, ripped pad and/or a bad button. Anyone with some microsoldering experience can repair this easily for you.

I repaired my remote after a microswitch became faulty. Found a microswitch on the bay and a simple soldering job. Wouldn't really call it microsoldering, nothing as hard as some smd components I've had a go at.

For sure. It's a little on the smaller side, but definitely do able without a microscope or any special tools. The pins and solder joints are very easy to see!

The fob case will be a top and bottom part. There'll be a PCB inside that sits on some plastic pegs.

Separate your fob case with a flat screwdriver or similar, remove the PCB, put it inside the new case and snap if back together. It's all pretty obvious once it's apart in front of you :)
