Hi all,

Iv been trying to plan a HTPC for the living room and have hit a little issue.
The computer will go behind a TV unit as the unit is full with ps4, virgin box, bluray player.
Main uses will be for some gaming watching movies. I'm thinking of a steam controller and wireless keyboard/mouse as is not final yet.
But the main issue I dont want to have to keep on moving the tv unit to switch is on.
I need to find a way to switch is on remotely.

Wake on lan.

Had to google to find out what is was, So basically making sure the motherboard supports it, (which most do) then enabling it in bios?

Then going into a browser within mobile or another computer to switch is on?

Is there another way?

You could just buy a new power button like some custom cases use and then put it in a simple box and run the cable from somewhere easier to access - I have not done this but the principle would be the same because all the power button is an on/off switch wired into the relevant pins on the motherboard.

button like this
cable like this
box of your choice

edit: actually there seems to be some 'ready made' versions of this if you search for external pc power button.... can't link as obviously competitors
