Hi Guys,
I have an office located away from my home and i was wondering if it is possible to print to a printer connected to the network from home??

I know Log me in allows me to do this but its only the paid version and i was hoping to do this for free.

hope you guys can help, the broadband connection in both places is always on and there is a server always running in the office.

thanks

If you can get a VPN setup on the server, you should be able to do it, far as your computer is concerned it will be on the office lan when it is connected via VPN

but that is as far as my knowledge goes

If it is a linux server, you might be able to use an ssh program such as putty to redirect a port on your computer to the printer

If the printer is network based, then it isn't a problem...

Port forward 9100 to the printer IP on the router.

On your PC, add the printer as a local printer, tcp/ip port of your EXTERNAL IP. Voila.

surely you can email the file to the other end, take control of the destop and print to the printer that PC's attached to ?

Use Hamachi on both machines assuming you have admin rights on both machines. Basically its an easy to setup and use VPN, so you can file and printer share to your hearts content.

Dont forget to share the network printer on your works machine (Im aware that its a network printer already but this is so that Hamachi can use it), that way theres no messing with any printer/router settings.
