I have a customer who is having some staff problems with betting sites and wants to know if he is able to look at what the pc is browsing and doing.

I know there are many remote sharing programs but all the ones I know do not allow the remote user to silently 'watch' what the user is doing on the pc.

Any programs that can do this for him?

Thanks

If they are having problems with things like that would be better putting a proxy in and keeping logs. Plenty of free ones. Also one better would be to use a filter with categories

If you run VNC as a service you can't see the icon, and don't know if someone's connected.

However, legally speaking don't you have to notify your staff?

VNC springs to mind also, but it is a very good point about the ethics of doing this. If it is simply to "catch them out" then there are easier ways.

Yes, you will need to have all staff to abide / sign a code of conduct / internet usage policy that notifies and allows for monitoring, otherwise you wont have a leg to stand on in terms of invasion of privacy / human rights etc... See also RIPA (Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act) and covert surveillance and interception too. One day your customer might 'watch' their staff use betting sites, another day they might start reading contents of private emails etc... Thin end of the wedge cliche.
