Remote unlocking doesn't work.. Locking does

Weird problem this morning. My car would not unlock from the remote, i had to put the key in the lock. I haven't had much time to diagnose it as I needed to go to work.

I don't think it's the battery as the range of the remote is very good.
I don't think the red light on the key lights up either but I'm not sureif it ever did .

Any ideas?

Could be a solenoid gone bad? Project Bentley's boot lock has gone like that (won't unlock remotely, but locks on the button), currently waiting on me having the time to get it all apart and replace the solenoid on the unlock side.

Unlock button broke? I know my type of car keys you can break the button pretty easy

Happens on my golf occasionally, but only the passenger door. Locks find and most of the time unlocks ok, but sometimes for a few days it won't unlock. Have to open from inside (pull handle then press unlock on fob).

Looks like it may have been something like this. I took it apart at work, poked around, now the light works, i remember it did before now. Haven't tested yet but will report back.
