Hi,

I'd be grateful for some suggestions/opinions on how to replace the RWW functions we had with SBS2008 on the new 2012 Standard server installed in the office.

At present I am being offered Logmein, Teamviewer or via a VPN and then RDP to the local network PCs.

We would usually have 2-3 users logged in through RWW to access their PCs on weekends etc, although I have 20 PCs that would require the service.

The nature of the business is semi-privileged and so I don't want to use third party programs unless really necessary.

Thoughts gratefully received.

If you want to do it properly and securely, deploy DirectAccess.

Machines will work seamlessly when connected to the LAN or anywhere with a WiFi connection. Machines on DA can be managed as if they were connected to the LAN.

DA has some complexities, and it may be worth getting some consultancy in, but once the infrastructure is in place there's no management overhead with it and it provides a great user experience. It works best with Windows 8.1 clients.

It also requires Enterprise versions of the desktop client, which if the OP is coming from SBS I would say they are unlikely to have.
