I currently use NXserver on my ubuntu box and then run freenx client on my windows laptop.

I can't however use freenx on android. With that in mind, can anyone point me in the direction of the best way to remotely login to my ubuntu box from my android device.

Thanks

VNC is the way to go.

I run TightVNC on the server and the use androidVNV on Android. This is fine for a LAN, but bare in mind if you do it over the internet VNC is insecure and should be wrapped in SSH.

Ubuntu's built in version of remote desktop uses VNC and so if you enable that you should be able to use any viewing app that supports VNC. I've used it and works fine no hassle.

Ok, so i've just setup Unbuntu Remote Desktop, and installed Android VNC veiwer on my phone. Currently testing over WLAN eek!

This isn't what i want though. Firstly, I had to click allow on my ubuntu screen to allow the phone to logon.

Secondly, i'm getting the same screen as I can see on my monitor.

What I want is to be able to basically log in as a new user. Well i same new user. With NX I leave my ubuntu machine turned on with me logged in. Then I get the laptop out load up the client and log in again. Both screens are independent of each other.

Hope that makes sense.

Built in vnc on ubuntu works fine for me I remote in using androidvnc although there are probably loads of vnc apps for android.

Edit: I do also have the teamviewer app for android which works fine but i have only ever used it to get into windows servers but i assume there will proabably also be a linux install.
