I'm logging onto my computer remotely and the bluetooth dongle that is plugged into the USB port is playing up. The only way I have found to correct it is to physically remove it from the usb port and then reinsert it.

Unfortunately I am not in front of it. Is there a way I can do a similar thing remotely? The computer I am connecting to is running Windows 7 Basic (or netbook version, i'm not sure what it's called). I am using logmein to remtely connect to it.

Many thanks

I meant to add that I have tried uninstalling and disabling the dongle in Device manager and the device came back with the same problem when reinstalled.

thanks guys. I will try the usb power reset program. I have tried to disable and reenable in device manager but it comes back with the same issue.

THanks again

I am unable to get the USB power reset program to work correctly, I don;t think it is compatible with Windows 7.

Unfortunately I can not find any way of turning off then turning the usb ports back on in the control panels power options, can somebody point me to the right place please?

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the device in device manager but it reinstalls it with the problem again.

I thought of buying a usb powered hub and putting a timer plug on it that turns off for 15 min twice a day. If the power was to be turned off at the hub, would the device turn off or would it draw the power directly from the computer?
