removable hardrive with mac files on it crashes windows

Lo all,

My house mate and I are doing some work and we're swapping the files using his removable firewire hard drive. He has a mac and I have a PC. When ever I open the folder the work is in it stops responding. If I copy the whole folder to my computer I can open the files using software but if I try and browse the folder in the normal way it stops responding.

Is there anything I can do to get it to work? anything I can run. It's a pain having the copy the whole folder onto my computer every time I want to get a single file thats been updated.

I get the same with my network sometimes, its usually because its loading all the thumbs and info for all the files, Maybe make a dedicated folder just for that file???

What file system is it?

The removable is FAT32 and my system runs on NTFS, didn't even think about that if I'm honest. I thought I had cracked it by turning off read only because it worked for a different folder on the HD but not on the folder I need it to.

Get hold of a program called: 'Mediafour MacDrive'

Problem solved! (That is if it's a file system incompatability problem

)
