Hi, I have a problem. An annoying one. So using my pc later today i have noticed 2 thunderflies in my Acer 4k2k screen. They are dead and are just kind of stuck there. One seems further forward than the other if that makes sense. One is just a blur whereas one is quite focused.

I thought the monitors were sealed? further more I had 3 of them 3! crawling around in my ROG swift the other day but they have luckily disappeared.

Has anyone RMA'd a monitor because of it as it will drive me crazy

I have tried tapping the top of the monitor but i havent pressed on the screen as i dont want to kind of squish them. But they will not shift.

Is there any kind of spray or something to repel these things as they find themselves in impossible places and would not like anymore in any future monitors.

Thanks.

I have heard of people using a suction cup on the screen, gently lifting it and tapping. That can work apparently. Otherwise, I don't know there's much you can do short of dismantling it... which probably isn't advisable. Sometimes they dry out and fall away over time. You're right not to press on screen as that will only squash them in tighter.

Thanks for this, i managed to remove one of them but there is still one left that will not shift at all. Its not bothering me too much so hopefully it will dry up and i can remove it in the next few weeks.

Since then i have kept the window shut, i can see loads crawling on the outside of the glass due to the crops being harvested i guess and i dont want anymore inside the screens.

Thanks for the advice :).

I've managed to remove them before by taking the screen apart and luckily they were just on the backlight. If they have got between the layers of the screen itself then you will never get them out without breaking it :/

Surely it cant be that hard to seal the screen, but some manufacturers seem to do a better job than others. E.g. They seem to be able to get inside all the BenQ monitors we have, but none the AOC ones so far.

We always have a BIG thunderfly problem where we live, so it's a good testing ground :D
