I'm hoping someone can solve this for me, as its really annoying me.

When I pull the AC power out of my laptop, the screen brightness drops.

The brightness keys still work - I can lower it further, or raise it, but the Max level is lower than with AC connected.

The Windows setting is for Max to be available on battery.

Any ideas?

Its an HP DM1 4125, if that matters.

It will be in the powersaving menu, if you've tried that already then I'm no help at all, sorry!

Could be in the BIOS, or in the proprietery program the laptop uses. Failing that, when it is unplugged, turn it up full with the shortcuts on thee keyboard. Should sort it out for next time.

Its a vanilla Win7 64 with no HP software at all installed.

There's no option in the BIOS to change - but that doesn't mean its not being set there though, right?

Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options > Change Plan Settings

Change Advanced power settings

Scroll down on the list to Display > Display Brightness

It has options for on battery and plugged in brightness.

Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options > Change Plan Settings

Change Advanced power settings

Scroll down on the list to Display > Display Brightness

It has options for on battery and plugged in brightness.

That was the first thing I tried.

I have finally found it though - It was the AMD Vision Engine Control Centre that had yet another power control in it!

Happy now :D:D:D
