I foolishly stripped my PC and promptly sold my 5770's but forgot to unistall the drivers:o, will I be able to use my new nvidia card and start up my PC and remove ATI drivers? anyone done this?

Just do it in safe mode, I don't believe the drivers are loaded then. Should be alright either way, you'll just get error windows warning you that no nVidia device was detected.

I done similar thing few weeks ago on my small office pc.
Took out ati card , installed Nvidia, i realised i forgot to remove ati drivers only when i booted.

I just removed ati drivers without going into safe mode, re booted, installed Nvidia drivers and all is well.

Mind you PC is only used for office work, but i dont see any reasons why it would not work even if 8400gts was capable of running any games,
its ancient amd socket 939 pc
