Remove numberplate - double sided tape

What is the best way to remove a number plate that has been stuck on with double sided tape? I was thinking something to spray behind the number plate so the tape soaks it up and loosens the bond, maybe WD40? Get it off and then a bit of elbow grease with tar remover or something?

Would a hair dryer help loosen the glue on the tape?

It may well do. I really need to invest in a heat gun.

Try 3M Adhesive Remover

When removing an adhesive, try using a 3M product designed for that purpose. 3M adhesive remover is safe for use on cured automotive paint, vinyl, and glass. It also removes grease, oil, and wax.

Yowza. £20.20 a can!

WD40, petrol or something of that sort dribbled behind it give it a couple of minutes and slowly work it off. If you can get a pallet knife or something similar behind it to help even better.

This is what I was thinking, just wanted someone to confirm. Ill give this a try before forking out £20 for 3M adhesive remover

just pull it off??? and then clean off the glue/tape thats left over

It's quite bonded on and I don't want to ruin my front bumper.

I used boiling water from a kettle last time I had to remove something sticky... Just remember to wash / wax again afterwards

I ended up pulling it off. Didn't damage anything and the leftover residue came off really easily. No mess no fuss
