What's the best way to tackle this?

Sds hammer drill?
tile adhesive remover?

Yh it will be uneven otherwise,I just removed a load if old wall tiles sweet as a Nut with SDS drill and chisel bit,get a cheap titan one of screwfix for £45 last time I checked, comes with the bits as well, you could do it with hand chisel and a lump hammer but it's harder work

Deffo get a hammer drill. I had a full kitchen that I was taking back to brick and it went through the tiles like butter.

No greater satisfaction than chomping through tiles and whole sections of them start to fall off when you get behind them.

I ended up going through 2 chisel bits though as I think I was going a bit gung-ho with the drill!
