With the respect that I'm still left with the dual boot menu on my main boot drive, and i don't want it there. I've goten rid of it before but have forgotten how (been a long time since I've done it)

So just need a pointer in the right direction.

You used to have to change something in boot.ini but this was a long time ago, and I don't know if things have changed since then!

I've just looked in there using msconfig only to see that if I wish to make any changes I have to use a program in Vista !! Oops thats not installed anymore.

This was simple back in the days of Windows 98 lol just type in sys C:\ and the dual boot menu would disappear.

I presume you still have XP? IF thats right, then put your XP cd in and boot from cd, go to the recovery console and do: fixboot and fixmbr
