Removing a dead mapped drive link in Windows 7

Going under network as its a mapped drive on another machine

Basically im unable to remove the mapped drive links from My Computer, as the shares are no longer there, however getting an error message of The network connection does not excist when i try the 'disconnect' option

any ideas?

open a dos window

net share *** /delete

where *** is the name of the orphaned share

Heres what that did

C:\Users\USER>net share Y: /delete
This device is not shared.

net use * /del

use that to clear everything off and add any that you need back.

I had a similar issue where I couldn't get rid of a network drive no matter what I did!

Eventually I realised that the drive was being mapped by a group policy and this seems to prevent you from deleting it lol
