Got a massive problem trying to remove my motherboard from my case as it appears that the brass standoffs are threaded and trying to unscrew at the same time. I don't own a pair of pliers and its only me here so any ideas on how the hell I can remove these screws effectively?

Even with pliers I can't remove the mobo from the mobo tray lol. Never seen anything like it!

Looks like I'll be selling the mobo and case cheap due to this problem and upgrading both. Just ordered an asrock extreme 4 gen 3 mobo and still contemplating a case :)

Had a similar experience a few years ago, ended up getting a blunt pair of scissors (but needle noise pillars would be better), simply get a grip of the stand off with one hand & unscrew with the other.

Remember a friend telling me he had to drill a stand off out once :D

Sadly I've used 2 sets of pliers to try and do that but the back of the standoff is just turning into mush and I still couldn't even get 1 of the screws out lol. Never seen anything like it seriously :S

I've had this a couple of time. Applying a hair dryer to the under side seems to work. I guess the aluminium surface will warm quicker than the brass fitting therefore it releases.

Might actually try that, thanks!

Hacksaw is an absolute last chance effort to be honest as the mobo tray is a NIGHTMARE to remove in the coolermaster CM690 II advanced case.

cannot picture exactly what you mean but

1) if the brass standoffs are turning and you want them still use thin nose pliers to hold them?

2) if the screws are turning in the thread but not comming out gently leaver them with a blunt knife as you turn them - push down as gently as possibly on the screw driver..
