Hi guys, need some help, ive looked all over google and everyone recommend this Direct X Eradicator tool to remove direct X but i cant install that because it says my version of windows is not compatible (XP Pro SP2).

Ive tried deleting the registry folder for Direct X and that didn't really work. I have direct x 9c installed (i think) because i can play sup commander and other newish games, but running dxdiag show my version as 8.1 ........ ???? Why it hasnt updated I do not know.

Either way, I signed up for the World In Conflict BETA and cant play it becasue it thinks i have an older version of direct x than 9b.....*sigh*

Any suggestions on how to sort this problem out ? seems direct x is a pain in the arse to re install.
Is a format required ? :(((

Yep, it installs fine , i think, there are no errors anyway, but after install it still says direct x 8.1 (4.08.0001.0810) in dxdiag. And htat i cannot play World in conflict because of direct x :(

Tried restarting after installing new directx?
What's telling you that you have dx8 installed, your beta game or the dxdiag tool in the system32 folder?
I'm assuming the 9.0b statement is a typo as it's currently 9.0c and even then it's regularly updated every couple of months.

Yes i restart after install and no change.
DXDIAG shows Direct X version as 8.1.
The game beta is telling me that I cannot start the game because i need a version of Direct X 9b or higher...
However, i can play supreme commander just fine, and all other games. Which require direct x 9.
I couldnt play those games if i Had 8.1...right ?....so DXDIAG is wrong...and I have installed the 9c redist of Direct X and this doesnt do anything to what version DXDIAG is listing.

I can only presume that this BETA is checking the version from DXDIAG and not letting me start the game, even though i can play supreme commander :/ and have installed 9c
