I've been wanting to get a new backbox for a while now, specifically for the tip to make it look a bit better. No i'm not going for a chavvy noise, just want something that sounds a bit nicer.

Now, it's come to the point when the exhaust tip is pointing upwards due to the back of the silencer basically touching the ground, is there any easy way to remove the final hanger so that i can remove the backbox, don't particularly fancy it dropping off on the way home from work tonight. Is it safe to just give it a tug, replace the hanger when i get a new box or would there be some permanent damage?

It should just unhook I would have thought. Most exhausts are held on the car with a rubber figure-of-eight type thing. Either slide it off with a bit of WD40 to help or cut it and replace.

Watch out when you unhook and hook the new rubber mounts, the best way to do it is with a meat hook style tool which pulls the rubber over the mounting, using a screwdriver is a good way of getting a hole in your hand.

Cheers Jonny, i'll give sliding it out a go :)

Firestar, i'll not be putting on the new mount myself, i'll be getting the garage who fits the new backbox to be doing that :)
