hi all,

I've got a broken driver installation on my dads pc, that I can't get rid of :(
when I try to uninstall it, I get the message that there is an instance of setup already running or damaged (DOH). If I try to reinstall ( new or same version) I get the same message. The pc has been rebooted several times and I've disabled all mention of the soundcard in msconfig, I've tried removing the device in hardware manager, and restarting in safemode to uninstall. All no go.
My next step is a reinstall of XP (reformat/reinstall of course :p )
unless anyone can come up with a suggestion as to how to get shot of the thang. His setup is real complicated and so I really don't want to reinstall if I can avoid it!!

I know it's broken because all games are really stuttery, sound is awful. and when you go to control panel you get the message that you need to check that the device is set to full hardware acceleration, which it is

thanks
