just wondering how do I go about removing my carpet temporarily from the stairs and then putting it back in place?

Anyone attempted this with success?

Removing might be okay but I am worried that when I put the carpet back it might not be the same as it was when I started.

I have just removed carpet from 12 timber steps. About 30-50 staples / tacks on each. Was an absolute nightmare.

Suffice to say the carpet did not come off in one piece nor did I intend on using it again.

Answer to the this question entirely depends on how it's been fixed and what your stairs are constructed from.

In the old days one would use stair rods.

Not only simple and straightforward. It also allowed you so move the carpet strip from time to time to even out the wear on the edges of the steps.

just worried if I remove the carpet then it just won't go back to how it was before I started.

do u think it will be one piece up to the top of the stairs? or would they have cut it up

Yes, I recently removed my stairs carpet to repaint. I bought a bolster and carpet kicker in case I needed it. Only a few staples used so it was fairly easy to remove.
Putting it back down wasnt too bad, the trick is making sure it grips on the grippers and stays tight.

can u possibly show me a link of what those tools look like?

and how did you replace the staples?

I had a look at my carpet last night and I noticed that there are grippers around the perimeter of each stair. It looks like it is one big piece of carpet rather than a cut at each stair itself.

I haven't replaced the staples yet, I need to pickup a heavy duty stapler.
Usually it is one piece of carpet, mine was in several pieces due to a turn half way up.

I just picked up something like this - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-PIECE-...=item2389a1e75d:g:xPIAAOSwBw1ZcmVw:rk:12:pf:0
