I am trying to fit an mp3 player into a 1995/6 vauxhall astra. I have managed to remove the radio but there is a black metal casing where the radio was fitted. Does anyone know how I can remove that so I can get the mp3 player in properly, as with it left in, the mp3 player won't go in all the way?

Thank you :)

You should get a new metal DIN cage with the new radio. To get the old ones out if you look down the back of the cage you should see a screw. Undo it and then carefully pull the cage out and put the new cage in. This is the method I know of but can't remember if it will be the same on your car's year.

Thanks for the quick replies :)

I looked and looked for a screw somewhere but I couldn't see one so I might try ripping it out.

Thanks again for the suggestions :)

Squeeze the top and bottom of the cage, so they meet, together then pull hard, it sould come free, at least mine did (mk3 Astra).

There is a screw at the back on the mk4 Astra and its a PITA as it leaves behind the plate the screw went into, just hope your new one doesn't have a cable at that exact location  :p ;)
