Removing Dried on Bugs?

I think I saw a thread a little while ago but as there no search...

Whats the best method of removing welded on bug splats other than using proper stuff like megs products?

You could try elbow grease and one of those bug sponges (wuith the mesh on them), or just buy a tub of Auto Glym Motorcycle Cleaner.

Autoglym make Bug and Tar remover, however i've never had to use it.

Even when cleaning a friends white 200SX which suffered from welded fly syndrome, they came off with the reverse side of a wash mitt and some hot water.

What he said It's the only product I've used which doesn't scratch the paintwork up.. That or bug-wipes from halfords after they've been left to soak

A proper wash mit should not mark the paint, if it does throw it away and get a proper one.

I don't use the whole side - just a finger in the mitt and warm water.

Besides, if you let your paint get to the point where bugs are welded on, which only happens when you dont wash your car for ages, and dont use a decent wax, how can you say you care about your paint? Usually with paint in that state, bugs are the least of your worries!

In any case if it does leave a small mark, its nothing a pass with my porter cable wont solve.
