So I have a lot of tracks in my iTunes library and quite a few duplicates. I know there is a built in way in iTunes to do it, but it's not the best.
I'm looking for something that can do it for me with as little user input as possible, and preferably free. If it could fix names of tracks as well, t hat would be a bonus it would also preferably be free!

Now I'm not closed to the idea of importing them into a Foobar library if there is a free plugin for that I could use for the job.

Any ideas please!?

wrong section but have a look at mediamonkey gold, might useful as it can rename tracks with a few clickes etc

iTunes is pretty nasty at this kind of thing & very slow with large catalogues (in my experience)..

Foobar is a good alternative

I've tried all sorts of tools etc and while most of them work really well if your library is only a little bit messy, if it is a proper hodge podge of downloaded rubish then they only reduce the manual labour ever so slightly!

does it matter if its slow its a one off process.... - well maybe once a year if you are stupid and keep re-adding stuff already in the lib...
