Happy Monday guys.

I've had a quick google and can see there are lots of random techniques around with a variety of failure rates (the usual lemon juice, vinegar, baking soda and so on).

BUT is there a one stop product/technique that you recommend?

I value OCUK's opinion over others. :p

Harpic power plus is very good, but don’t get it on metal unless you want to strip it.

Mr Muscle Advanced Power Bathroom is very good and less corrosive. I used it to completely strip a glass shower screen after a previous tenant failed to clean a property before I moved in. Use in conjunction with a sponge as it collects the softened scales off the glass well

Yes, descaler. Proper industrial stuff, not that "don't get it in your eyes" rubbish that they sell in supermarkets. I have stuff that you literally just spray on and wipe the scale off.

Just don't let it touch anything else, it will damage anything it touches, as my wife found out when she stripped off half the chrome in our kitchen sink waste.

Used baking soda and white vinegar on mine, does work but is a lot of elbow work. Makes your gaff smell like a chip shop too :p

It's really annoying because a week later it's back

Any daily shower cleaner does a great job, or a squeegee :-) A bit more work every day but makes it a lot easier when you decide to clean

White vinegar is very effective, more so than alleged limescale products in my experience. Stinks though.

A water softener is the ultimate answer if that is an option. When my wife ordered it I was sceptical but it is fantastic.

I have a karcher window cleaner, which I think was about 30 quid.

With that, no fancy cleaning products needed. Wet it, hit it once with the karcher, stains all go. It was a revelation the first time I used it on the showers.

I'm a big fan of https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/252675391
Viakal although they should probably rename it viakill because you will probably half die from the fumes.

I wouldn't use it on anything enamel that has scratches though and I wouldn't leave it on enamel for very long.

when I do mine I spray it on a car sponge rather than the actual walls/glass, give everything a good rub and rinse it down with the shower straight away.
(amateurs clean with a mini sponge, regular sponge or a tea/towel/rag)
all limescale/hard water stains gone, everything sparkles and looks super clean.

then use the same sponge for the toilet (just kidding)

@MrRockliffe - Do you mean the metal round the edges of the glass? Best way to protect that part?

Spray a little wd40 on kitchen roll and give it a wipe once you have the initial lime scale off :)

wd40 is a dust and dirt magnet

use gt85 it's not sticky when it dries and leaves a pfte coating.

just don't die in the shower if any gets on the floor

GT85 wont destroy rubber seals either

Bottle sprayer of Viakal. Tesco sells it. Simply spray on and wait a few minse then rinse. I use it all around the kitchen/bathroom. Gets everything sparkly again. Live in a super hard water area.
