I'm not sure if this belongs in general hardware, Storage or case central.

Is it possible to remove HDD and optical caddy from the cases? I ask because as you see below, I now only have 4 SSDs which are mounted in a huge amount of space, which is wasted.

Ideally I would like to rip out the lot and mount them in a small enclosure on their sides (not vertically) just on the sides at the bottom right of the case. The top optical drive area has nothing in and there are no front intake fans. I think i'll start by moving them all down in the slot mounts

yes, you can remove them, how easy it will be will depend on the case. What case is this? - you might be able to remove them with a few screws or you might need to get a metal cutter on the go.

Thanks.
The case is a Fractal Design R2 midi tower case -
It looks like this but slightly different as the caddy doesnt come out (that I can see)

I started by moving them all down to the bottom...
