Has anyone removed the heatspreaders from these memory kits, Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 12800C9 1600MHz Triple Channel (CMX6GX3M3A1600C9)
I know it will invalidate the warranty, I want to watercool them but have heard some corsair memory has the heatspreaders bonded and can actually pull the chips from the PCB before it lets go of the spreaders. any advice would ge great.

my only advise is that i wouldn't recommend it, as it is known fact that i could damage the chips, how they design the heatspreader that it was ment to stay on forever, unless you know for sure that the heating method is hot enough to melt the thermal but not damage the chips under.

My system is heavily overclocked and the ram is generating the most heat in my system at the moment, I was thinking about integrating this into my existing watercooling loop hence the request for advice.

Watercooling the memory is pointless. Don't bother.

BTW I had some Corsair DDR3 1GB sticks and tried pulling the heatspreader off, and yes the chips came with it :( So no, I wouldn't recommend trying.

Ram fan, don't try pulling off the heatspreaders unless you don't want you ram chips anymore :p

Just buy one of the corsair or kingston ram fan clip things. never used one, but heard good things.

Ouch - looks like I was lucky with my Ripjaws (had to swap one of the sinks to fit it under my Megahalems).

I agree with everyone else - DDR3 really doesn't need water cooling (even the oversized coolers on higher end ddr3 are overkill).

lol! Sure they are! ;)

Watercooling memory as previously stated is a waste of time, if your overclock is limited by your memory, get some different faster stuff.

Agree with this, running ocz reapers here, tbh the heatsink is more of a hindrance, got them for the nice low timings which is nice.

Temps are as follows, how do these compare to yours?
CPU Idle=39 Load=70
IOH Idle=26 Load=32
ICH Idle=26 Load=32
GPU Idle=38 Load=44

Don't quite know what you are getting at with this comment but believe me, all other compnents are barely warm to the touch, the ram is very hot to the touch..i fact they are that hot you can feel the radiated heat from about 6" away so yes they are the hottest component inside my system at the moment and I have no problems with my Overclock this is far as I am willing to push it for 24/7 use, I was thinking watercooling to prolong the life of my memory.
