Removing heatspreaders from Corsair XMS3 DDR3 (CMX6GX3M3A1600C9)

Please understand, RAM should be HOT TO TOUCH. The heatsinks disperse the heat, radiation of the heat is a GOOD THING. The heatsinks are conductive of heat, and should disperse it through fins.

Please leave your memory alone. You can get your CPU down a few degrees if anything.. I say 65-70 max, you're on the higher end ;)

I get what the OP is saying my OCZ gold were extremely hot to touch aswell. I settled for the dominator gt series then after and currently have a mips ram block on order. They don't require you to remove existing heatsinks so no affect on warranty.

Or easier, just buy mem like OCZ flex that can be watercooled straight outta box ; ).
And then again, it's pointless anyways, I've never heard about RAM getting overheated even at very high OCs.

Some run hot but it's not type of heat that will cause any problems.

Indeed, unless the memory is limiting your overclock I wouldn't worry. As has been pointed out correctly by Snooble, the fact it is getting hot to the touch is showing that the heatsinks are doing their job and dissipating the heat efficiently to the air.
