Removing ICS ?

Depending on how they did the ROM upgrade they may have wiped out the battery stats which will mean the battery meter may be unreliable for a week or two.

This. Rom changes either do or should, wipe battery stats. Different kernels and all that. The first day or two of a ROM change will yield wonky battery metering.

Yeah, ICS is rolled out by the network. Orange released it for me last week.

Battery is currently sitting at 65% after 24hrs. SGS2 ICS. A couple of hour's light gaming, browsing, a few texts and a 15-min call.

With regards to OS version, yes, factory defaults will keep your current Android version. Same happened with my old Galaxy Apollo. Flashed it from 2.1 to 2.2, and sold it on eBay wiped clean with 2.2.

Well, it's been about a week of ICS usage now, so thought I'd pop back with my final thoughts for other Arc S users who haven't yet upgraded or whatever.

The battery life seems to be the same as is always was. No better, no worse.

The speed is the problem now. I estimated it was running about 95% of Gingerbread in a previous post, but I'm gonna downgrade that to about 85-90% now. There's no excuse for the actual phone dialer taking a good 3 or 4 seconds to populate the screen when you press it.

In summary..... it's close..... but I'm gonna have to say DO NOT upgrade.
The benefits (of which there are few in my opinion) are not worth the loss in speed.

Tried a different ROM? CM9 absolutely flies on my SGS2 compared to stock (samsung) ICS.

When i upgraded my GS2 to ICS it was a bit clunky, the screen was unresponsive and weird and the battery was being monstered.

After a couple of days everything improved vastly which leads me to believe that after such a large update, everything just needed to recalibrate through normal usage.

I'm with you, upgraded my Arc S to ICS and wish I hadn't bothered, definately more laggy than gingerbread without giving any real benefit

My S2 has been playing up as well since I upgraded to ICS. Haven't routed/flashed it mind. Apps just seem to hang and it just seems less responsive than on GB.

Thinking of doing a Factory reset, all my contacts are on my Gmail account but is there anything else I need to backup? Music, pictures, videos etc are on my SD card - just don't wanna lose anything really!

Cheers!

Actually, couldn't live with it any more.

Sold the ole Arc S for (the equivalent of) 140 quid and bought the Xperia S for 290 quid....well......150 if you count the cash from the Arc :D

Only had it about 2 hours so can't really comment... but if I do... I guess this isn't the thread for it any more ;)

When ICS becomes available for the Xperia S, I think I might wait a week or two and read some forums before jumping in this time, Heheh

My Arc S seems slower now it's on ICS, you're right about the dialer - it''s chuffing annoying, need to hang on to it for a couple of months until my contract's up.
