Made an order from sportsdirect a while ago in order to get a pressie for the gf, unfortunately I failed to notice a security tag still on the inside of the top. I took it to the local sportsdirect store but apparently they use a different tagging system and the guy wasn't able to get it to come off. Very helpfully he suggested I use a really big magnet, which of course I had waiting for me at home....muppet.

I imagine I could smash it up pretty easily with a hammer or something but im pretty sure the magnets would still cause havoc, any bright ideas how to resolve this with average household items?

Contacted company via e-mail and I am yet to get word, frankly I would rather avoid sending off the item to get a tag removed, would prefer to save the hassle

Yes i know, worst I am a shoplifter thread ever.

A finely focussed laser should do the trick. I understand a car alternator inline with the head unit from a BlueRay drive should do it. You'll blow all the relays but for a brief moment it should boost the laser to unimaginable destructive levels...

dismantle old hard disk, remove mega strong magnets, get fingers caught bettween magnets and scream, recover from pain use mega strong magnets to remove tag.

Picture of the tag? I have had to remove one in the past when the shop left it on. Worryingly it took about 20 seconds.
