Removing Motherboard Backplate

Hey. I recently purchased a Noctua NH-D14, so I was just wondering how do I go about removing the CPU backplate on the back of the motherboard? I have a ASUS P5Q Deluxe, apperantly I'm required to remove this x-clamp before I fit the custom one. I have already tried removing it but it's seems stuck on there real good, I didn't want to damage the board.

Cheers.

You could try warming the area with a hair dryer so the glue gets gummy and more pliable. Although you could be there all day trying to get it to a temperature where it becomes pliable.

I do know that I used a jewellers screwdriver once to remove a backing plate that was stuck on. Scratched the board to bits, but it still works. Note: I am not advising you to do this. You could knacker your board.

Twist it if you can. This helps break the bond.
This is why I do not stick them on! Or if I do its only with just enough to get it to stay there.

Pry with fingers only!
Ive seen so many horror stories of clever people using flat tip screw drivers and going straight through 5 or 6 traces on the back of the board.

Hairdrier and twisting slightly should get it off :)
