Removing mould from a picture frame

Hi,

After moving house recently we found that we had a bit of a damp problem in the previous property. We've found some patches of mold on the back of a large picture we have.

What's the best way of getting rid of this? I've wiped it over with a damp cloth but it just comes back. The back of frame where the mold is is hardboard.

Replace the hardboard...k .. Mould is the most annoying thing to remove because yes, as you have found out it comes back.

Oddly, I hadn't even considered that. I've heard of people mentioning bleach but I'm not sure I want to put this on there!

A damp cloth won't kill the fungus that causes the mould.

B&Q or somewhere similar sell an anti-fungal / mould spray that should do the job.

Buy a new frame?

Watered down bleach would prob be alright, test on a small area first. Failing that white vinegar.

u won't get rid of it from hardboard unless u dry it out in direct sunlight or a oven it needs replacing really. walls are a different matter they can be bleached then use sterilizing fluid to cure the problem. Is the mould black???

Peroxide might be a safer alternative to bleach. But bleach is surely the best. You could also try a bathroom mold/mildew remover such as Tilex, if you have that over there.
