Removing my brother from the wifi of an evening.

My brother stays up until 3/4am every night and is talking on Skype really loud.

How can I kick his PC off the wifi when my parents want to go to bed?

Help! :D
 
Adopt boxing stance whilst pooing in his letterbox, that'll teach him!
 
If your parents want to go to bed then they should tell him to get off skype and take it away from him if necessary. I don't care how old children are. If they still live with their parents then it's their parents rules.
 
Slip a passive aggressive note under his bedroom door. Clearly that's the advice you're looking for.

They don't mind him on his PC just not talking.


They go to bed at 10, I stay up until 1 usually watching Netflix.

I've looked through my router settings and can't see anything, I'll have another look.

So if he's being loud then why don't they tell him to be quiet? Or is it your bandwidth and latency that's the issue rather than him keeping them awake at 3am?
 
Let your poor brother Skype with his american mistress for goodness sake.

And why are you taking sides with your parents over your brother?

Buy your lil bro a better microphone so he can save his vocal cords.

They do but it keeps them up as they have to be up at 5.

Pfftt.. I'm 19 and there is no way i'm leaving any time soon!

The only reason i ask is because they keep turning off the internet which is annoying when I'm trying to watch Netflix. Doesn't affect my iPad or phone as they are 4G but the tether speed isn't good enough for 1080p streaming :(

He's already got one of them fancy Blue microphones
 
Just tell him to quieten down then, it's common that when Skype calls deteriorate people start shouting pointlessly. I tell my mum to shut up all the time she doesn't get the fact that packet loss and latency has nothing to do with the volume of her voice.

Or check to make sure his mic is set up correctly. My utterly cheap mic that came free with my motherboard can pick up whispers from the other end of the room!

This, if the firmware can do it (custom firmwares like ddwrt and tomato might be an option) or if you can automate a script to do it on a schedule e.g. by telnet.

Or slightly lower tech - whenever he's on just log on to the router and block his machine manually ;) Make sure he can't get into the router too obviously.

Will work until he figures out how to spoof his MAC address ;)
