Hey all :)

As some of you may have seen - I passed my driving test today :D

I immediately, ran out and pimped my ride with a better radio :p

I brought it in Halfords and got free fitting with it - but the earliest they could fit me in was on Thursday :(

So I thought I would try and fit it myself :p I've checked the manual and it is absolutely no help whatsoever...

I just went outside and tried to yank the outer casing from it but it just started bending and making lines I didn't like :p

Appologies for the bad picture - however, there it is...

I've poked the holes and didn't get very far at all :(

Any ideas?
It's a Peugeot 106 Zest 2 (No comments :p It's my first car - it was cheap :p)

THANKS,

Marky

I did one of these not 2 months ago. Theres a knack to it that i'm struggling to remember.

I think you need to stick something in the holes at an angle.

I think brute force and ignorance did it in the end. I stuck a small screwdriver in one of the holes (no sniggering at the back) and waggled it whilst pulling the same side with an improvised hook.

After some abuse, one side came out which allowed me to see the mechanism and get the other side out.

Bottom line = stick a screwdriver in there and yank the crap out of it.

Don't you need those like, radio removal keys that slide down the side and it will just hook out nicely?

Why does it take until thursday to fit a new head unit? It's a 5 minute job.

Anyway yeah, you need to stick something into those holes. That'll push back a clip that's holding the thing in place. But if you don't mind brute-forcing it, you can try a screwdriver to pry it out.

You need to do something more than that on the 106. If you just stick say a skewer in the holes it wont actually contact anything.

Hmm some multiple theories on how to do this it seems :p Might jump outside and wiggle some screwdrivers in there and just yank the thing :p

What about the outer casing (The bit around the sides of the radio)? I managed to get it all off apart from the top left corner where the plastic started to bend (You can see it's slightly lighter on the picture :p) - Do I still need to remove this or should I forget it?

Don't be a douchebag ¬_¬'

I think Gaijin's method of shoving something in the holes as far as it'll go and mauling it (carefully) until it's free is the best way :D From your photo it doesn't look like there's any other way :p

Snigger, all this talk of shoving something in the holes.

Anyway, go back to halfords and get the removal keys
